Matty Burnham

Matty is an ink and watercolour illustrator originally from Cumbria, now based near Leeds in Yorkshire. His work is deeply rooted in landscape, shaped by the shifting light, weather and textures of the Lake District and the Dales, places he knows instinctively and returns to again and again. Alongside these familiar settings, he is drawn to locations with a strong sense of history and character — from the castles of Northumberland to the lochside cottages of the Highlands — and increasingly to the villages, river valleys and stone architecture of France. His distinctive line and wash style captures both structure and atmosphere, creating work that feels immediate and expressive.
